The Book of Theanna: In the Lands that Follow Death

The Book of Theanna: In the Lands that Follow Death

by Ellias Lonsdale

Average Rating:Average rating of 5/5

"I purchased this book some four years ago, when I found it in the Death & Dying section of a local bookshop. I had no idea what I was about to read.

The author of the book is Theanna Lonsdale, deceased wife to widower Elias Lonsdale, who writes through her husband in the manner of that otherwise often laughable New Age invention, "channeling." Reader beware: in the case of this book, the result is a voice of such breadth and astonishing vision that you may find yourself at a loss as to how such vivid, warm and living wisdom could be speakable at all.

Upon her death in the late '90's, the now-deceased Theanna speaks of her transmigration into subtler dimensions, in a Dantean-like tour of heavens and hells that left me quietly transformed by her reports in a way I still have not been able to quite come to grips with. Among her many meetings are included meaningful encounters with Rudolph Steiner, a most heartbroken and despairing Jesus Christ, and "The Lord of Death," with whom Theanna engages in a spiritual battle that leaves her immune to hell and able to tell about it, and many other beings and cosmic realities besides.

What Theanna has returned to Elias to say to the world is that this world, this Earth, is spiritually "blasted" and ready to give way to its spiritual rebirth. In the meantime, the drama that must play out is the difficult exhausting of the possibility for life upon it, with all too much in the way of human suffering, amidst a burgeoning birth of spirituality in its midst nevertheless. According to Theanna, we are here to navigate this bifurcation and find our way into the future against its heightening drama.

The quality of articulation that Theanna displays about the subtleties of spiritual suffering defy the rarest dharmas I have personally encountered. Though I cannot say one way or another whether Theanna is really a living being or not, the razored edge of fresh truth that flies off these pages leaves me more in a state of informed wonder than any kind of skepticism I could otherwise muster.

Most importantly, Theanna's voice itself acts as a strengthener to the soul, encouraging us to withstand our greatest suffering here and to value it as such. Part of why we are here, she says, is to carry the most destructive information about this dying planet beyond its lifespan (and our own), and to take the imprint of its failure (at the hand of mankind's historical condition of being overrun by the demonic) as primary information to carry with us beyond our stay here, in order to share it outward into the wider reaches of the cosmos -- yet untouched by the particular and devastating sorrows that our now ours to endure for as long as we are here.

Where has such a radically honest and yet altogether affirming wisdom as this ever been made available at large? Trust me, this book is at least as alive as it sounds, and well worth the read. Buy it used for a dollar or two and just read the first page....I only hope that it may inform your trust in our place here on this brutalized earth in this unbearable time a fraction as much as it has informed mine, and encourage you thereby to hang on and hold out through whatever lies ahead -- for the sake of everything that lies beyond.

From the opening pages of this extraordinary book:

"A Personal Note

"Our hope and dream is that we can encourage each willing reader to follow a path of destiny that is truly your own. We do not think of death as just the final curtain. It is instead the opening act into the next realm. Each one dies and lives on, changes and evolves, loses everything and finds what they did not know they could ever find again. Our story is your story. Take in it what you make your own and let the rest be for now. This is not meant to weigh you down, but to set you free. If the medicine is a bit strong, self-administer the dosage according to your tolerance. This is a supercharged path we are on and it does need to be taken up wisely, with inward attentiveness. We send you so much love with the words in this book that you can key on that love and imagine that the journey you are taking is entirely here for you. Let death be more life in you, a path into closeness to this Earth. For this is a book of dreams that just keeps on coming true. Whatever your apparent condition, you are beloved of the gods, now and always. Bless you."

For some, the above probably still sounds like New Age pap. So be it. It is but a taste of the reality living inside."

American Book of the Dead

American Book of the Dead

by E. J. Gold

Average Rating:Average rating of 4.5/5

"The status of the classic, fascinating Tibetan Book of the Dead, despite its reputation, remains vexed and it is finally an apocryphal and late text in the Buddhist tradition. Travel light and stick to basics. And beware of the associated abuses.
This work by the notorious Gold, a cloned wannabe in this vein, is essentially a pointless text, whose core meaning might become clear if you have read the last paragraph of Gurdjieff's All and Everything. Be forewarned! The 'work' is a false concept, and doesn't mean 'liberation', beware of what you agree to. Don't be caught in the clutches of these operators. It is one thing to groove on Sufi sayings like 'die before you die', quite another to take it as a form of spiritual practice at the hands of those with lunatic thinking in this field. I read an early version of this book years ago while interviewing a few of Mr. Gold's victims in a state of shock (he has plenty of groupies however), whose tales bespeak a singularly nutty versions of Gurdjieff-Sufism mishmashed. I was struck by the especial viciousness of the goings on in this regard, and the symbolic manipulation of the 'book of the dead' archetype. Sometimes posing as a Indian style guru, sometimes the Sufi sheik and/or 'successor' to Gurdjieff, this man with no stated credentials whatsoever, save the clear hints of being no guru at all but a Crowley style occultist, has let loose some stunning and dangerous howlers in this field, and I would recommend staying well beyond his influence. Period. The question of the Gurdjieff 'school'is hopeless at this point. There is no such thing as the 'fourth way' and the ersatz ashram in tricky combinations has drifted down history ad infinitum and this is no exception. You are under no obligation to spiritual obedience to these entrepreneurs. None whatever. Wake up and watch your step."

Dion Fortune's Book Of The Dead

Dion Fortune's Book Of The Dead

by Dion Fortune

Average Rating:Average rating of 5/5

"Dion Fortune's Book Of The Dead is a metaphysical and mystical guide to understanding and accepting the transitions that come with death, how to help the dead on their journey and avoid hindering the soul, how to prepare oneself for dying or the loss of the loved one, and how to grieve. Chapters discuss the journey of the soul beyond life, why it is improper to seek to contact the dead under most circumstances, and offers simple advice in contemporary language as to what the living can do for the dying and why. Originally published as "Through the Gates of Death" in 1930, then in a revised edition in 1995, Dion Fortune's Book Of The Dead retains the timely wisdom of psychologist and psychic Dion Fortune (1891-1946), recognized as one of the most insightful contributors to 20th century esoteric thought. Children Who Remember Previous Lives: A Question of Reincarnation

Children Who Remember Previous Lives: A Question of Reincarnation

by Ian Stevenson

Average Rating:Average rating of 4/5

"This is not a starry--eyed, dreamy retelling of tales of dubious authenticity. Rather, Stevenson, drawing from 40 years of carefully documented and researched case histories, adopts an academic approach and cool, detached tone in his analysis. He is not interested in convincing anyone of the truth of reincarnation; but he does want to force the reader to seriously consider the evidence. The detailed evidence is not in this book, but in his scholarly publications, although accounts of 12 cases are provided for purposes of discussion. After presenting these cases, Stevenson outlines his methodology and draws out some recurring patterns. He concludes with a thought--provoking, speculative chapter on the explanatory power of the reincarnation hypothesis, and considers some objections of those who are reluctant to accept rebirth. Stevenson's cool, transparent discussion presents the sceptical reader with a dilemma: either accept that these are serious cases which deserve careful scrutiny on their own merits, or claim fraud or delusion. The latter begins to appear wildly improbable given the apparent thoroughness and care of Stevenson's research, and this reader felt that he had been relentlessly backed into a corner. A book well worth reading for anyone who is interested in the mind--body relationship, death, or how personality is formed."

The Place We Call Home: Exploring the Soul's Existence after Death

The Place We Call Home: Exploring the Soul's Existence after Death

by Robert J. Grant

Average Rating:Average rating of 3.5/5

"So many books out there on life after death cover one aspect of this vast subject. In "The Place We Call Home," the author has answered a wide variety of universal questions concerning this subject and drawn from very credible sources. I'd read Dr. George Ritchie's book on his near-death experience, in the Place We Call Home, the author obviously interviewed him and brought out amazing details not included in Ritchie's books. Ritchie glimpsed the realms of heaven and hell - and Grant found correlations from diverse sources that shed so much light and all agreed! Grant detailed that God loves us unconditionally; but it is human beings who create their own hellish after-death state by hating their fellow man;harboring prejudices;being vengeful. Ritchie, Edgar Cayce, British writer Helen Greaves, all said where we go after this life depends upon how much we chose to love, to forgive, being kind, etc., all the virtues of the spirit. In short, all that we build in this life goes with us after death. Those who hate will find themselves in a place after death that reflects that. Edgar Cayce experienced the hellish realms in visions, and Dr. Ritchie saw the same things. However, unlike the fundamentalists beliefs, there is no eternal damnation. Grant managed to show a multifaceted picture that every soul has the opportunity to move out of the "shadowlands"; this is based not on one person's view, but on many. He also writes how we can work with dreams to help heal the grief from a loved one's passing. Dreams are a doorway, according to Grant, where our loved ones can communicate with us. In short, they still hear us and love us;and if we've got unfinished business, guilt, remorse like,"I wished I'd told her Iloved her before she died," the book shows, beautifully, that love can't die and it's never too late to say the things in our heart. They shed the body, at death, but that's it--they still love us and they feel our hurts, pain, and our joy. We've been taught it's too late after they're dead. Grant has a step-by-step exercise that brought me GREAT HEALING...I know now, like Grant said,"the bonds of love are spiritual, not physical...and they continue to exist after death..." What a relief, a joy and a treasure this book is. He discusses what happens during the dying process at the soul level - and that relieved and helped me so much. And reading it made me want to be aboutthe business of being kind, loving, compassionate NOW. Hell is seeing after you die that you chose not to forgive or be kind. And according to Grant, we will all have to review every thought, deed, and act of our lives. And we will experience the impact we had through the eyes of every person we helped, andthose that we hurt. That saying, "he's gone to his reward," is truer than anything. We go after death, to what we've built, and we inherit it. I thank God for this book. I have a new chance everyday to make a difference. And the good we just try to do here, according to Grant, goes out and uplifts the entirety of the universe! And yes,"that which you sow, (here on earth),"so shall ye reap"(afterdeath). This book made me stop and ask,"What am I building?" EVERYONE should read this book....There is a Light at the end of the Tunnel! (please edit this, I know Iwentoff on a tangent...if you don't print it,Iunderstand....maybe someonethere on your staff will pick up this book. If one person does, then my mission is fulfilled!"

Life Beyond: Compelling Evidence for Past Lives and Existence After Death

Life Beyond: Compelling Evidence for Past Lives and Existence After Death

by Hans Holzer

Average Rating:Average rating of 5/5

"As usual, Holzer has taken a hard subject and made sense out of it through evidence he has gathered through his years as a professor of parapsychology. Scientific and unbiased, his accounts of the paranormal are detailed and very believable... much better than some other authors in the field."

Many Mansions Part II - Healing the Karma Within You

Many Mansions Part II - Healing the Karma Within You

by Gina Cerminara

Taking up where Many Mansions left off, the book pursues the philosophical aspects of reincarnation evidenced in the life readings of world-renowned psychic, Edgar Cayce, as well as from data derived from experiments to determine whether human memory can be taken back to a period before birth. She touches on some of the people who believed in reincarnation—among them, Plato, Virgil, Emerson, Whitman and Edison. The implications of reincarnation for art, psychology, and religion are considered. She notes, in conclusion, the hope and promise that reincarnation holds for our troubled world. This is an important, heartening book, as interesting and credible as it is inspiring. Lucid, concrete, consistent, it will help individuals understand themselves and their destiny. To skeptics or believers, it offers a brave, fresh concept of the meaning of life.

Journeys Into Past Lives

Journeys Into Past Lives

by Denise Linn

Average Rating:Average rating of 4/5

"I pre-ordered these tapes as soon as I heard about them, after reading Past Lives, Present Dreams by Denise Linn. The cassettes are experiential, as opposed to the intellectual exercise of *merely* reading a book. Denise guides you through exercises in which you touch the past. You access past lives which concern your current problems and situations. Examples are given of how dissolving emotional blockages which you have carried into this life with you can change relationships of today! Not being sure I believe in reincarnation, still I knew that dissolving emotional blockages can only be a good thing. I *saw* a life that I loved-I loved my community and my friends and most of all my wife. I did not want to pass out of that life because I felt that I had to be there to take care of my wife, she would not be alright unless I was with her.I used Denise's techniques to go back and "change" the outcome. My personal testimony is necessary to review the tapes because I can vouch for the fact that they are unbelievably powerful. Within two weeks I was contacted by the daughter I had given up for adoption (in this life) who must have been the *wife* of the former lifetime. Of course I had always thought that she could never be alright if I wasn't with her to take care of her. If you're reading this review, you must be considering Denise Linn's tapes. They changed my life more than I ever dreamed they could."

The Mind Chronicles: A Visionary Guide into Past Lives

The Mind Chronicles: A Visionary Guide into Past Lives

by Barbara Hand Clow

Average Rating:Average rating of 5/5

"One can read this book on two levels--or perhaps two hundred. It is smoothly and well written, and for one reading with just the conscious mind, it is fascinating, absorbing, and a wonder of a book. On another level, I found myself reading it as a remembrance of things I had forgotten in the dust of ages past. Things I had forgotten, things half remembered, lifetimes lived and not fully explored. I found myself understanding the action in the book at levels far beyond the conscious mind. Some might argue that the product of past life therapy is a group of mind fantasies, and if they do, nothing is lost. As a past life therapist myself, however, I would question the mind's ability to produce something of the awesome depth of this book as pure fantasy. Not only does this book have a profound depth and a wealth of metaphysical, spiritual and philosophical understanding, but it renders that wealth in a supremely readable format. I would give this book 6 stars if that were available."
