It is basically the only thing in the field of psychical research that Myers ever published because he died at age 50, but he was truly one of the gods of psychical research. He was a classical scholar, and this is reflected in the quality of this work. His theories as to "What Its All About" do not make for easy reading, but they have greatly influenced all subsequent thinking in the field of personal survival. Myers is perhaps best known for what he accomplished after death: communicating from the "other side" through Piper, Verrall and other mediums, he was the source of the "cross-correspondences" which are widely regarded as some of the best evidence for personal survival. Anyway, if your reading concerning life after death has been confined to works published in the 1980s and 90s (George Anderson, Rosemary Altea, et al.), your mind will be blown by the quality and seriousness of the work done by researchers like Myers 100 years ago."

"Dannion Brinkley has done it again! He has managed to write another excellent book of his near death experiences, his journeys and the messages he received from the Beings of Light. This second book is filled with love, compassion and guidance, as was the first book. As Dannion says, "Love is the important thing there is." "All you need to realize is that love is powerful. Its expression is treating others the way they want to be treated." I read this book and then had to go back and read his first book. Then I had to read this book once again. And of course I had to read this book in one sitting! I find people's experiences of near-death experiences quite fascinating and this book is no exception.Dannion does repeat a lot of what was contained in the first book, but I found that he went into much more detail in this book. The story behind the story, so to speak. I really came away with deeper understanding and compassion for all that he had gone through. I thought it was extremely interesting when he told about helping his so called "friends" with his new gifts. His work with hospice is extraordinary. He is relentless, committed to his life's mission and does not give up. Considering what he has and had gone through, he has had valid reasons for giving up. Yet Dannion prevails in the midst of obstacles presented to him.I found his explanation of his centers most fascinating. Equally fascinating was the work he did with Dr. Raymond Moody. Our lives are so busy and hectic these days, that to "plug" into our spiritual realm on a daily basis cannot often be accomplished; yet it is so necessary. Our children and the dying can teach us so much, if we only take the time to listen! After reading his book, I wanted to volunteer my time with hospice and one day I hope to do that.I find Dannion to be a most compassionate and remarkable man. Again we are treated to those ancient but timely messages of love, forgiveness, and kindness to our fellow man. I applaud him in reaching out to others with his messages. I do believe that God singles some of us out for "special" projects here on Earth and Dannion Brinkley seems to be one of those persons. Reading both of his books, one cannot help lose their fear of death and embrace it instead.At Peace In The Light is a must read for those who are interested in life after death."

"I loved this book! It brought tears to my eyes and gave me goosebumps!After the death of his beloved Albert, Joel acquired the gift of communicating with other people's spirits. He would walk by a stranger and get an overwhelming urge to give them a message from someone had passed on to the other side. I was particularly touched by his kindness and compassion towards people.One story I found particularly touching was about a young man who had lost his life partner to Aids. He was grief-stricken and could find no comfort from the emotional pain he was experiencing. Joel told him he had a five word message for him. This man went on to pour his heart out to Joel, sharing his grief, his anger and his pain. He told Joel how he cried out to his lover at night, "Can you hear me?"The five word message Joel had for him was, "Yes, I can hear you." Still gives me cold chills.I'm a huge skeptic but there was too much here to chalk up to mere coincidence. Not only were the signals that he received unmistakable, but the more I read this book, the more I was touched by what a wonderful, loving, affectionate, caring person Joel must be. Despite his own grief, he never hesitated to share his gift or to offer comfort to others who were hungry for some form of communication from those they had lost. I don't think I've ever met anyone like him. By the time I had finished reading the book, I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be wonderful to actually know a man like this?" "This is a helpful book written in a very straight-foward manner. In addition to offering a number of insights into the meaning of various aspects of the standard reincarnation model, the author presents a current perspective on the psychology of using these methods and on the necessity of pointing the insights so gained towards helping with the management of current-life circumstances. One thing the author does not mention is that there is a great deal of time that must be spent by a person, more or less in solitude, in implementing the techniques to obtain an effect. Another thing is that although many of the procedures point to ways in which information can be obtained about past-lives the resulting effect is quite different from actually entering into those lives (instances of the higher-self as it were. To give it its due however, some differentiation is made using the left-brain right-brain model to posit intellectual as opposed to emotional "facts". The work is really about "opening doors" rather than "going through them". On the whole however, this is a very useful book and well worth the very modest sum of money required to buy it. There are a lot of books priced very much higher that deliver much less."
