The Birth Called Death: The Remarkable Story of One Woman's Journey to the Other Side of Life by Kathie Jordan Average Rating: "I really enjoyed reading this book. I had a Near Death Experience 17 years ago and have learned a lot about the life after death. This is as good a description as any. Wish I knew her brother Troy myself." My Descent into Death: And the Message of Love Which Brought Me Back by Howard Storm Average Rating: "I just got around to reading this after having read most of the other books in this field. Many potential readers may be put off by the facts that Storm is a Christian minister and that his NDE (which occurred when he was an atheist) wasn't the entirely "warm and fuzzy" experience favored by the New Age crowd. These facts should not keep anyone from reading this book. As another reviewer said, Storm's Christianity focuses on love and isn't the narrow-minded cartoon version that alienates many people. The most important thing is that the book is an honest account of what Storm experienced and how it transformed his life. This struck me as one of the rare accounts in which the experiencer has largely put aside his ego and need to impress everyone with his unique status as an "experiencer" and is simply trying to communicate to his readers the truth as he experienced it. Like it or not, during his NDE Storm found himself in the grip of seemingly demonic forces until he called upon Jesus (pretty much as a reflex action arising out of some childhood church training). This doesn't seem to be one of those accounts where the experiencer "interpreted" the Being of Light as Jesus -- in Storm's case, it WAS Jesus. The fact that this book is "Ringingly" endorsed by Dr. Kenneth (not exactly a Christian fundamentalist) should alleviate the concerns of many potential non-Christian readers. I found it to be one of the more compelling accounts that I've read and would encourage anyone -- particularly those who refuse to confront the possibility of a Dark Side to the universe -- to read it. (Minor complaint: Storm is an excellent artist, and it would've been great if the reproductions of his NDE-related paintings had been in color rather than black and white.)" The New Children and Near-Death Experiences by P. M. H. Atwater Average Rating: "THE NEW CHILDREN AND NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES provides an exceptionally thorough overview of the wide variety of near-death experiences (NDEs) for children and a fascinating description of how these experiences transform children's lives. Author PMH Atwater points out that while there are many types of near-death experiences, there is one identifiable pattern that fits them all... and this pattern sets the stage for great changes in the child's life. Atwater further explains how children born recently, the "new children," are demonstrating many of the same characteristics of children who have had NDEs. Many of these children view future events before they happen, learn at a very fast pace, are quick to recognize relationships, see ambiguity in what appears to be factual information, think abstractly, enjoy working independently, and don't want their giftedness pointed out. Atwater shares her decades of NDE experience and research in such an engaging fashion that I became completely absorbed in the stories of these amazing children and their families. In addition to sharing detailed personal accounts, Atwater provides helpful tips for parents of these gifted children who are often deeply concerned that their children be more "normal." These children need an open, supportive environment, and can benefit from revisiting and documenting their experiences. I highly recommend THE NEW CHILDREN AND NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES to anyone interested in better understanding today's new children, and catching a glimpse of how this next generation will change the world!-- Cynthia Sue Larson author of "AURA ADVANTAGE: How the Colors in Your Aura Can Help You Attain What You Desire and Attract Success" (Adams Media 2004)" Publisher: Bear & Company | More reviews: amazon.com
The Day I Died: Remarkable True Stories of Near-Death Experience by Tammy Cohen Average Rating: "This collection of near death experiences were interesting but after reading a few of the accounts, the stories became quite tedious and boring to read. A bit more editing might be needed here. This is a book I will not keep in my library." Publisher: John Blake | More reviews: amazon.com
Nothing Better Than Death by Kevin Williams Average Rating: "How does one begin to review a book such as this? We all have been touched in one way or another by the loss of someone we have loved and was dear to us. When I received this book for review I ravished it from cover to cover, however it has taken me several weeks to begin to write for you what I have found within it's covers. The author takes a look at sixty-two near-death experiences and shares them with the reader. They range in topics from God, Heaven, Hell, Reincarnation and Suicide, to name a few. What did I feel as I read these experiences. Oh dear reader, such a mixture of emotions that it is hard for me to express them to you. Joy, sadness, fear and hope are just a few that raced through my being as I devoured this work. Are these true? Did our brethren of this human race truly see into the next world? What awaits each one of us as we walk through that portal? Does it really matter what faith we are or how good or bad we are in this life? That is for you to decide! I believe I already know that answer! To me this book was one that only affirmed my belief in a far better world than I am in now. I smile with anticipation at the thought of seeing my Savior and my loved ones on the day of my departure from this earth. Death is something we will all face. You can't buy your way out of it or talk your way out of it. This book, in my opinion will help to ease your fears and may just make you a little jealous of those who have already made this wonderful journey. Highly recommended!" Is There Life after Death? by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Average Rating: "Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, M.D. (1926-2004) spent her life researching the final phase of human life and was a pioneer in hospice care, bringing an understanding of what happens when we die to medical professionals. She also had an interest in the study of near-death experiences.
One of the most intriguing aspects on this CD is the brief comment about being able to leave your body during certain types of sleep. I had imagined this may be a type of dream state, but Elisabeth Kubler-Ross also points out there are various traumas which can also cause this type of experience, including car accidents where you see yourself while hovering above the body. A few of the main topics include:
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross' Mystical Experiences
The Miracle of Life
Unconditional Love
The Soul and the Body
Life after Death
Cosmic Consciousness
The most comforting aspect of her research is the message about no one every dying alone. As you die, you will encounter relatives who have died before, guardian spirits and possibly even religious figures you loved while alive.
To verify her research, she explains how when blind people leave their body, they again have their sight and can describe what people were wearing. Many such instances explain how when you leave your body, you become complete again and feel peace and no pain. This CD presents the positive aspects of dying and is a comforting clarification of what occurs when we shed the body and move to the next stage of our eternity.

Where Reincarnation and Biology Intersect by Ian Stevenson Average Rating: "This is basically the "Reader's Digest" version of a much longer, more technical work. Thus, the descriptions of some of the cases are very sketchy. Nevertheless, Stevenson's reputation is impeccable after something like 40 years in this field, and you can be pretty confident that he isn't seriously skewing the facts. He seems to be more up-front than in earlier works in acknowledging that reincarnation is really the only plausible explanation for many of these cases. The book focuses primarily on cases where birthmarks and other physical anomalies match up with injuries suffered in the prior life. The book is well-illustrated with photographs, and some of the cases are truly weird. Put this book together with something like his Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation, and your theology will be sorely challenged if it denies the reality of reincarnation." The Book of Theanna: In the Lands that Follow Death by Ellias Lonsdale Average Rating: "I purchased this book some four years ago, when I found it in the Death & Dying section of a local bookshop. I had no idea what I was about to read.
The author of the book is Theanna Lonsdale, deceased wife to widower Elias Lonsdale, who writes through her husband in the manner of that otherwise often laughable New Age invention, "channeling." Reader beware: in the case of this book, the result is a voice of such breadth and astonishing vision that you may find yourself at a loss as to how such vivid, warm and living wisdom could be speakable at all.
Upon her death in the late '90's, the now-deceased Theanna speaks of her transmigration into subtler dimensions, in a Dantean-like tour of heavens and hells that left me quietly transformed by her reports in a way I still have not been able to quite come to grips with. Among her many meetings are included meaningful encounters with Rudolph Steiner, a most heartbroken and despairing Jesus Christ, and "The Lord of Death," with whom Theanna engages in a spiritual battle that leaves her immune to hell and able to tell about it, and many other beings and cosmic realities besides.
What Theanna has returned to Elias to say to the world is that this world, this Earth, is spiritually "blasted" and ready to give way to its spiritual rebirth. In the meantime, the drama that must play out is the difficult exhausting of the possibility for life upon it, with all too much in the way of human suffering, amidst a burgeoning birth of spirituality in its midst nevertheless. According to Theanna, we are here to navigate this bifurcation and find our way into the future against its heightening drama.
The quality of articulation that Theanna displays about the subtleties of spiritual suffering defy the rarest dharmas I have personally encountered. Though I cannot say one way or another whether Theanna is really a living being or not, the razored edge of fresh truth that flies off these pages leaves me more in a state of informed wonder than any kind of skepticism I could otherwise muster.
Most importantly, Theanna's voice itself acts as a strengthener to the soul, encouraging us to withstand our greatest suffering here and to value it as such. Part of why we are here, she says, is to carry the most destructive information about this dying planet beyond its lifespan (and our own), and to take the imprint of its failure (at the hand of mankind's historical condition of being overrun by the demonic) as primary information to carry with us beyond our stay here, in order to share it outward into the wider reaches of the cosmos -- yet untouched by the particular and devastating sorrows that our now ours to endure for as long as we are here.
Where has such a radically honest and yet altogether affirming wisdom as this ever been made available at large? Trust me, this book is at least as alive as it sounds, and well worth the read. Buy it used for a dollar or two and just read the first page....I only hope that it may inform your trust in our place here on this brutalized earth in this unbearable time a fraction as much as it has informed mine, and encourage you thereby to hang on and hold out through whatever lies ahead -- for the sake of everything that lies beyond.
From the opening pages of this extraordinary book:
"A Personal Note
"Our hope and dream is that we can encourage each willing reader to follow a path of destiny that is truly your own. We do not think of death as just the final curtain. It is instead the opening act into the next realm. Each one dies and lives on, changes and evolves, loses everything and finds what they did not know they could ever find again. Our story is your story. Take in it what you make your own and let the rest be for now. This is not meant to weigh you down, but to set you free. If the medicine is a bit strong, self-administer the dosage according to your tolerance. This is a supercharged path we are on and it does need to be taken up wisely, with inward attentiveness. We send you so much love with the words in this book that you can key on that love and imagine that the journey you are taking is entirely here for you. Let death be more life in you, a path into closeness to this Earth. For this is a book of dreams that just keeps on coming true. Whatever your apparent condition, you are beloved of the gods, now and always. Bless you."
For some, the above probably still sounds like New Age pap. So be it. It is but a taste of the reality living inside." Publisher: Frog Books | More reviews: amazon.com
Trailing Clouds of Glory by Harold A. Widdison Average Rating: Join Harold A. Widdison in his search for answers to the first great question of our existence: "Where did I come from?" Mission to Millboro by Marge, Ph.D. Rieder Average Rating: "As a native of the area the author investigated, and someone who believes the thesis she puts forward is possible, I found this book very disappointing. She had an opportunity to examine a unique situation but spent so much time in relating step by step research of the place name, she exposed the sloppy nature of her efforts and instead of establishing credibility proved she was over her head in this project which was self published. Had she solicted expert help and local historians she would had put forth a much more readable and exciting story. The content is worth reading but the book is tedious and frustrating."
