The Ripple Effect

The Ripple Effect

by Betty J. Eadie

Average Rating:Average rating of 4.5/5

"After reading Embraced by the Light and The Awakening Heart, I was inspired and intrigued by Betty Eadie's near death experience and her journey to the other side. However, I still had many questions. The Ripple Effect has answered most of them and is a definite 'must have' whether you're a follower of Betty's writings or just curious. Not only does it provide the answers but also gives insight as to why we're here and what we can do to spread the love and goodness that our earthly world so desperately needs. I highly recommend this truly wonderful book. The world would indeed be a better place if everyone read it and abided by 'the ripple effect'."

Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit

Between Death & Life : - formerly - Conversations With a Spirit

by Dolores Cannon

Average Rating:Average rating of 4.5/5

"For many years I have been searching for answers to who I am, where I come from, what is the purpose of my life and what would happen when I die. During this quest, I have read over 450 books published in the western world about research in this field.

Without any doubt, I would rank Between Death & Life by Dolores Cannon amongst my Top 3 favorite books. It is well written and has helped me in getting many answers I was looking for. I highly recommend it to people who are in a similar quest as I am.

The books that I have read to date can be classified into five broad types. First types are books that are based on information provided by psychics or clairvoyants such as Edgar Cayce, Ross Peterson, Sylvia Brown etc. The second types are books written by people or mediums who have the extraordinary ability to communicate with the world beyond. This includes books such as Interview with an Angel, Messages from Michael, Talking to Heaven and Reaching to Heaven by James Van Praagh, books written by James Edward etc. Third type are books written totally by a directed force, commonly known as Automated Writing, where the source of its intelligence and the propellant which directs the pencil or typing keys is unperceivable by any of our five physical senses. These include books such as The World Before and A World Beyond by Ruth Montgomery. The fourth type are books based on information received from hypnosis sessions of thousands of individuals. Notable amongst these are Journey of the Souls and Destiny of the Souls by Michael Newton, Between Death and Life by Dolores Cannon, Past Lives Future Lives by Dr. Dr. Bruce Goldberg, Life between Life by Dr. Joel L. Whitton, Many Lives Many Mansions by Dr. Brian L. Weiss etc. The fifth type contains books written after extensive research on Near Death Experience (NDE) of American citizens. According to 1990 Gallup survey, 35% of people on verge of death experience NDE and over 8 million people in USA had NDE. Notable amongst this type are books written by Dr. Raymond Moody, Dr. Melvin Moarse, Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Dr. George Ritchie, Kenneth Ring Ph.D., PMH Altwater, Craig R. Lundahl Ph.D (The Eternal Journey), Betty J. Eadie (Embraced by the Light) and Damion Brinkley's personal account of near death experience.

What was fascinating to me was the consistency of information presented by Dolores Cannon and all other authors on Purpose of Life, Laws of Karma and Reincarnation."

Is There An Afterlife?: A Comprehensive Overview of the Evidence

Is There An Afterlife?: A Comprehensive Overview of the Evidence

by David Fontana

Average Rating:Average rating of 4.5/5

" Since becoming interested in psychical research some 15 years ago, I have accumulated a library of more than 1,000 books dealing with mediumship, channeling, near-death experiences, death-bed visions, apparations, past-life regressions, and every other aspect of the paranormal. This book is without a doubt the most comprehensive overview of the entire field that I have encountered.

The author is a professor of Transpersonal Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University in Great Britain and a past president as well as current vice-president of the Society for Psychical Research. Professor Fontana examines everything from the mediumship of the Fox Sisters of the 1800s to the recent
Scole experiments, including such famous cases as Patience Worth, Margery, the R-101 disaster, the cross-correspondences, to name just a few. He looks at the mediumship of Leonore Piper, Gladys Osborne Leonard, Eileen Garrett, Geraldine Cummins and many others.

So many of the earlier books present a one-sided view of various phenomena, but Fontana presents both sides, turning the evidence inside out and upside down, leaving no stone unturned. I had just recently reread a book about the mediumship of Mina Crandon, the medium in the sensational "Margery" mediumship of 1920s. I finished the book not knowing what to believe as there was strong evidence for Crandon being a gifted medium, but there was also some evidence suggesting fraud. The fact that the distinguished researcher, Dr. J.B. Rhine, was one of those concluding she was a charlatan made me lean toward that conclusion, even though I was mystified as to how so many other scientific examiners could have been duped. After reading Fontana's thoughts on the case, I am now back to believing that Crandon was a true medium, although she might have been a mixed-medium, i.e., one who occasionally cheated to please her audience when no phenomena manifested. There also seems to be the possibility that many of the mediums deemed cheaters were in fact sabotaged by malevolent spirits.

As Professor Fontana says, the question of whether or not our consciousness survives bodily death is without a doubt the most important facing us. For most religions, faith alone is seemingly all that is necessary. Perhaps that is the reason we have so much turmoil in the world today. Faith is not enough. We need conviction. That is what this book offers. "

Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life: Tools to Connect

Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life: Tools to Connect

by Tiffany Snow

Average Rating:Average rating of 4.5/5

"This is a book that may actually be written before its time. Ms. Snow speaks from personal experience - but also draws from numerous other sources in her successful attempt to bridge religion and spirituality - all in a context of Love of God, Self, and Others. No matter what your religion, the information presented here is sure to open your eyes a bit wider, with an acknowledgement of "I get it!" on several points. The word "Psychic" may not be appropriate in the title - perhaps "Divine" or "Supernatural," for the fundamentally squeamish; rest assured there are ample well-cited Biblical texts for the Christians, without any reader feeling uncomfortable. Especially interesting - training the Five Senses to sense God via unusual games and exercises; learning to distinguish our inner voice from outside "Others." Also many thought-provoking concepts, such as "What Religion is God?" If I was to title this book, it would be "Commonsense Christianity.""

Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife

Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife

by Mary Roach

Average Rating:Average rating of 3.5/5

"Well, I guess it's a step up from the pop tabloid treatments we see all too much of. Chapters are allocated to separate subjects such as reincarnation, search for the physical evidence of the human soul, spiritualism, physical mediums, etc. Unfortunately, Ms. Roach seems to be far more intertested in milking wisecracks out of her "research" than she is in doing any heavy lifting, and the breezy, smartacre style wears out its welcome quickly. You can certainly tell she comes to the subject with a tabula rasa: she obviously never heard of Harry Price, much less other lesser-known parapsychologists. It's an entertaining read, but I couldn't recommend it as anything approaching what I had expected it to be: a sceptic's investigation into the survival of human personality after death. Think of it more as "Cosmo Travels the World in Search of Spooks, Giggles, and People With Funny Names". "

Heart of the Christos: Starseeding from the Pleiades (Mind Chronicles)

Heart of the Christos: Starseeding from the Pleiades (Mind Chronicles)

by Barbara Hand Clow

Average Rating:Average rating of 5/5

"Why is our planet on the verge of ecocide? What is the real mystery of mysteries behind the life and work of Jesus? Whose hiding what and why? Whose in charge here anyway? Want some answers? Are you sick at heart over the senseless violence of modern existence? Tired of the sexual battering fed to you every day through the media? Where is the Love? This courageous journey by Barbara Hand Clow into the depths of those questions will move you to tears and resonate in unexpected places within you. Her mindful exploration of sexual abuse and brutallly honest retelling of her experiences in lives past will shake you up and get you feeling. The only way out is through! If she can do it, so can you. And you must if we are all to heal. Thank you, Barbara, for showing the way! This book is far too extensive to be just imagination. It just goes to show that truth is stranger than fiction (and much more exciting) so why settle for the same old same old three dimensional reality when you can have the exhilaration of the other six? Destined to be a classic, be the first in your circle to explore fully conscious ecstatic being. Warts and all! The only fault I find is that there is no index for the wealth of reference material buried in the text. Next edition, please!"

The Search for Bridey Murphy

The Search for Bridey Murphy

by Morey Bernstein

Average Rating:Average rating of 4/5

"This book is based on recorded transcripts done by Morey Bernstein on a patient, Ruth Simmons back in 1952. Dr Bernstein hypnotised Ms Simmons to talk about her early childhood events. During the course of these hypnotist sessions, she started talking about earlier lives. According to her account, she had several lives. In one life she came as a baby who lived only briefly. She talks about her life with this family and her brothers and sisters playing with her and being ill.The biggest past life she talks about is Bridey Murphy, a woman who lived in Ireland in the 1800s. She talks about her childhood and family and her husband and how she died. Bridey was named after her grandmother Bridgette. She died in her late sixties after a bad fall. After Bridey died, she was worried about her husband and apparently decided to stay in the house with him until he died. She says he was totally unaware of her presence even though she tried to communicate with him.The whole book is a very interesting series of transcripts taken from the tapes of the conversations with Dr Bernstein. I am not a big believer in reincarnation, but I still found it the sort of book hard to put down. For those people who believe in reincarnation, this book is a must-read. For those nonbelievers, it is still an interesting book."

Life Before Life: Children's Memories of Previous Lives

Life Before Life: Children's Memories of Previous Lives

by Jim Tucker

This popular examination of research into children’s reports of past-life memories describes a collection of 2,500 cases at the University of Virginia that investigators have carefully studied since Dr. Ian Stevenson began the work more than forty years ago. The children usually begin talking about a past life at the age of two or three and may talk about a previous family or the way they died in a previous life. Their statements have often been found to be accurate for one particular deceased individual, and some children have recognized members of the previous family. A number have also had birthmarks or defects that matched wounds on the body of the deceased person. Life Before Life presents the cases in a straightforward way and explores the possibility that consciousness may continue after the brain dies. It is a provocative and fascinating book that can challenge and ultimately change readers’ understandings about life and death.

The Place We Call Home: Exploring the Soul's Existence after Death

The Place We Call Home: Exploring the Soul's Existence after Death

by Robert J. Grant

Average Rating:Average rating of 3.5/5

"So many books out there on life after death cover one aspect of this vast subject. In "The Place We Call Home," the author has answered a wide variety of universal questions concerning this subject and drawn from very credible sources. I'd read Dr. George Ritchie's book on his near-death experience, in the Place We Call Home, the author obviously interviewed him and brought out amazing details not included in Ritchie's books. Ritchie glimpsed the realms of heaven and hell - and Grant found correlations from diverse sources that shed so much light and all agreed! Grant detailed that God loves us unconditionally; but it is human beings who create their own hellish after-death state by hating their fellow man;harboring prejudices;being vengeful. Ritchie, Edgar Cayce, British writer Helen Greaves, all said where we go after this life depends upon how much we chose to love, to forgive, being kind, etc., all the virtues of the spirit. In short, all that we build in this life goes with us after death. Those who hate will find themselves in a place after death that reflects that. Edgar Cayce experienced the hellish realms in visions, and Dr. Ritchie saw the same things. However, unlike the fundamentalists beliefs, there is no eternal damnation. Grant managed to show a multifaceted picture that every soul has the opportunity to move out of the "shadowlands"; this is based not on one person's view, but on many. He also writes how we can work with dreams to help heal the grief from a loved one's passing. Dreams are a doorway, according to Grant, where our loved ones can communicate with us. In short, they still hear us and love us;and if we've got unfinished business, guilt, remorse like,"I wished I'd told her Iloved her before she died," the book shows, beautifully, that love can't die and it's never too late to say the things in our heart. They shed the body, at death, but that's it--they still love us and they feel our hurts, pain, and our joy. We've been taught it's too late after they're dead. Grant has a step-by-step exercise that brought me GREAT HEALING...I know now, like Grant said,"the bonds of love are spiritual, not physical...and they continue to exist after death..." What a relief, a joy and a treasure this book is. He discusses what happens during the dying process at the soul level - and that relieved and helped me so much. And reading it made me want to be aboutthe business of being kind, loving, compassionate NOW. Hell is seeing after you die that you chose not to forgive or be kind. And according to Grant, we will all have to review every thought, deed, and act of our lives. And we will experience the impact we had through the eyes of every person we helped, andthose that we hurt. That saying, "he's gone to his reward," is truer than anything. We go after death, to what we've built, and we inherit it. I thank God for this book. I have a new chance everyday to make a difference. And the good we just try to do here, according to Grant, goes out and uplifts the entirety of the universe! And yes,"that which you sow, (here on earth),"so shall ye reap"(afterdeath). This book made me stop and ask,"What am I building?" EVERYONE should read this book....There is a Light at the end of the Tunnel! (please edit this, I know Iwentoff on a tangent...if you don't print it,Iunderstand....maybe someonethere on your staff will pick up this book. If one person does, then my mission is fulfilled!"

After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World

After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World

by Kimberly Clark Sharp

Average Rating:Average rating of 4.5/5

"One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, these are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too.
